Safety Glass and Plastics

Plexiglass (acrylic) and Lexan (polycarbonate) are a great alternative to glass if you’re looking for a product that is less easy to break. The benefits of using these types of plastics is that they are more durable, less fragile, and can be handled safely even with large sheets. We stock a large supply of different widths in large sheets and can cut to size for its application needs.

Plexiglass

Plexiglass (acrylic) is a versatile material that has great impact strength yet is light weight. This material offers excellent optical properties and is more resistant to impact than glass. It also has lower water absorption, good electrical resistivity and fair tensile strength.

Lexan

Lexan (polycarbonate) is a tougher grade plastic than plexiglass (acrylic). The characteristics of lexan are quite similar to plexiglass, but lexan is stronger and performs in a wider temperature range and is less likely to yellow after years of sunlight. This material is used for safety glass on window, doors, and enclosure
